Today, Justin and I traveled to Calgary for the weekend to take part in an anime convention called Otafest! It was our first time attending an event centered around Japanese film and culture, and we saw SO many awesome cosplays. They invited us this year because they want to expand their reach into gaming and YouTube, which is so great! I am so honored that they asked us to come, and that Stephanie took us on a mini roadtrip up to Canmore and Banff. Alberta sure is pretty :D If you want to learn more about Otafest, you can do so here: http://otafest.com It's not up yet, but to see/hear our podcast, go here: https://youtube.com/user/OtafestVideos https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/otafest-podcast/id1085874493?mt=2 -------------------------------------------------- Help support t...

Calgary is a little bit cowboy, a little bit trendy and a whole lot of fun. I was amazed that this Alberta capital, the largest in this Canadian province, had so much personality! There's amazing local food, charming bike paths along the river, a really happening downtown nightlife scene and some fantastic hotels (Hotel Arts, looking at you). I really was amazed by the little neighborhoods and the innovative new hotspots like a food container bar, an incredible cocktail bar, the delicious Simmons Building and so much more. I even get totally outfitted as a cowgirl, just like any Calgary girl should. Big thanks to Tamara from Globe Guide to being my awesome local tour guide!

This week's podcast features Richard H. from the We Agnostics group in Calgary. By the time that Richard made it to his first AA meeting, he was ready, he was done, finished. He knew he needed to stop, but he wanted to learn how to stay stopped, so he went to Alcoholics Anonymous. At that time, there were not any agnostic groups in Calgary, but he felt welcomed at traditional AA. There he found people who told his story through their own, and he was hopeful that he too could find sobriety. As he collected sobriety chips, his confidence increased and he could begin to imagine a happy, sober life, which by my estimation is exactly the life he lives today. Eventually, Richard joined a group of AA secularists who formed We Agnostics which meets in the Sheldon Chumir Center located in downto...
